United Nations University actively contributes knowledge and plays host to many conferences, workshops and seminars, such as the UNU/UNESCO International Conference on Globalization. A common requirement in such events is the registration process. With the growing pervasiveness of the Internet, online registration is becoming a popular alternative to the traditional means of registration, e.g., fax and postal mail. When the registration is online, it makes it possible to easily validate the submitted information against intentional/unintentional input errors (e.g., typos, omissions) and organize the information into a database. A less obvious and important advantage is that online registration can be a vehicle to support our outreach and dissemination efforts, when including certain information request fields in the registration form, such as newsletters subscription options. The participant's feedback can help us understand better his/her interests profile.

We have developed an event registration management system, which is sufficiently generic to allow the registration processing logic to work with virtually any registration forms and requirements.

The main features of the system are: Unicode support, email opt-in/verification, optional and required fields, automatic form generator, aggregation statistical information of each field, and CSV export. See HowTO documentation.
