1 October 2003, U Thant Hall"Implementation of TICAD III: the perspective of an African Leader"The aim of the lecture is, through an African perspective, to enhance Japanese public awareness of the implementation of the Third Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD III). The lecture will take place right after the closing ceremony of the TICAD III. In his lecture, H.E. Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor will present his perspective on African development and the role played by the TICAD. As the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), President Kufuor will explain how Western Africa perceives the relation between the TICAD and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD). President Kufour will present his vision on what should happen in order to make Western Africa, and most precisely Ghana, benefit better from the TICAD process. The lecture will be followed by a question and answer session.
