When accessing UNU SharePoint sites, external guests should recognize that their experience varies based on their account type. The following guides provide an overview of the experience for external guests.
If you are accessing a UNU SharePoint site as an external guest for the first time, please consult the section Determining your account type for initial access to a UNU SharePoint Online site.
Please note that Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is required for access to UNU SharePoint sites. When first accessing the UNU environment you will be prompted to set up MFA. Once MFA setup is complete, it isn’t necessary to set it up again. If you do not already have the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on your device, you can download it from either of the links below:
If you are accessing a UNU SharePoint site again, please consult the section Accessing SharePoint Online Sites as A Guest.
Determining your account type for initial access to a UNU SharePoint Online site:
Microsoft 365 Work or School Account:
These are email addresses provided by an employer’s organization or an educational institution subscribing to Microsoft 365 services. If your email address is provided by your work or school, and it ends in a custom domain-specific to your organization utilizing Microsoft 365 services, you have a Microsoft 365 Work or School account. You might be able to access the site directly.
For details, follow the instructions for Access with a Microsoft 365 Work or School Account.
Personal Microsoft Account:
Do you have an email address ending in Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, Live.com, or similar domains owned by Microsoft? If so, you have a personal Microsoft account.
Follow the instructions for Guest Access with a Personal Microsoft Account.
Non-Microsoft Account:
If your email address ends in a domain like Gmail.com, Yahoo.com, or AOL.com, you have a non-Microsoft account. Be aware this includes email addresses from organizations that do not have a Microsoft 365 subscription. These might be custom domains specific to other companies or institutions.
Follow the instructions for Guest Access with a Non-Microsoft Account.
