About Analysis Units

At the core of both Link Analysis and Claim Analysis is a set of procedures that segment the VR report into semantically complete sentences or phrases, referred to as units, requiring verification.

Link Analysis

Each unit corresponds to content that a specific URL in the report is intended to support.

Claim Analysis

Each unit represents a factual claim, identified through a combination of rule-based methods, linguistic analysis, and AI techniques.

These two approaches are complementary, as they may identify different sets of units. For comprehensive verification, both analyses can be applied. However, in many cases, it is sufficient to verify individual claims using Claim Analysis without validating the associated URLs, or to run Link Analysis without examining every individual claim.

URL validation becomes especially important when claims are controversial, unexpected, or require direct source confirmation to prevent misinformation. It is also essential when formal review standards, such as audit, must be met.
